Biography

Dr Martin Mabeifam Ujakpa is a senior lecturer in the Discipline of Information Systems and Technology (IS&T). Holding a PhD in Information Technology, a Master of Information Technology, a BSc in Computer Science and a certificate in Ecology, Dr Ujakpa has taught, supervised and served in six different universities in the area of Computing, specifically, Information Technology, Information Systems and Computer Science at the PhD, Masters, Undergraduate levels, and taught over six years at the senior high and basic school levels (in the areas of Science and Mathematics). Prior to joining UKZN, Dr Ujakpa served at the Ghana Communication Technology University as head of department and senior lecturer, International University of Management (Namibia) as faculty dean and senior lecturer, Ghana Technology University College as head of academics and lecturer, Accra Institute of Technology as executive manager and lecturer and the Valley View University as research assistant, teaching assistant and e-learning administrator.

On research, Dr Ujakpa has published over fifty research papers in peer reviewed journals, book chapters and conference presentations / proceedings. He serves as external examiner /reviewer /assessor for a number of universities, an accreditation body and as a result has undertaken a number of external reviews/examinations including doctoral and master’s thesis /dissertations. Though undertaken a number of international projects, three of these had funding ranging from US$ 15,000.00 to US$ 50,000.00. Additionally, Dr Ujakpa has supervised a number of students to completion and among them include PhD candidates, Master’s degree students and undergraduate students. Before joining Academia, Dr Ujakpa worked in the industry for a number of years
