PhD (University of Zimbabwe)
Prof Pardon Muchaonyerwa is Full Professor of Soil Science at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and has over 20 years of teaching and research experience in Soil Science. He has supervised 23 PhD and 46 MSc students and published over 110 peer-reviewed articles. His Google Scholar H index is 29. He has received awards from universities, scientific societies for oral presentations, and for best publication in the SAJPS in 2015. He is the national Chair for the Professional Advisory Committee on soil science field of practice for SACNASP and a guest editor of a special issue in Land (journal).
Prof Muchaonyerwa’s research interests include soil carbon (C), nutrient cycling and overall soil quality for improved agricultural productivity and environmental quality, including mitigation of causes and effects of climate change. His research focus is on conservation agriculture (CA), organic waste use, including biochar technology, and nutrient recovery from wastewaters.
