Overview
The Bachelor of Science Honours – Statistics specialisation is offered on the Pietermaritzburg and Westville campuses. The Statistics (Hons) specialisation focuses on advanced knowledge and skills in statistics, preparing them for further academic pursuits like postgraduate studies, or for careers in various sectors that utilise statistical analysis and data interpretation. Entry Requirements
- Applicants are eligible to apply to register for the Statistics specialisation in the BSc (Hons) programme if they have previously been awarded a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Statistics.
Modules
The curriculum for the Statistics (Hons) specialisation comprises modules with a total credit point value of 128 credit points as approved by the Senate. The Module STAT795 may not be repeated.

- The Generalized Linear Model – STAT714 (16 Credits)

- Customer Segmentation Methods – STAT743 (16 Credits)
- Special Topics in Biostatistics – STAT753 (16 credits) – offered on Pietermaritzburg campus only

- Mixed Models & Spatial Statistics – STAT730 (16 Credits)
