Dr Akinyelu has taught theory and applied computer science modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has also mentored and supervised several postgraduate students over the past few years.
Dr Akinyelu main research area is machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, medical diagnosis, sustainable agriculture, responsible and ethical artificial intelligence. He is currently working with PhD and Masters students on various topics in computer vision, deep learning, and sustainable agriculture, and responsible AI.
