He undertakes the supervision of postgraduate students in the area of substitution reaction kinetics of Pt(II), Pd(II), and Ru(II) complexes with antitumour potential, as well as in electrochemical sensing of commonly found water pollutants. He is the author of more than 60 peer-reviewed research papers and has successfully supervised 6 PhD, 9 MSc, and over 30 BScHons graduates to completion. By invitation, he has served as an internal and external examiner for 21 MSc and PhD dissertations/theses both within the School and at other universities. He also acts as a peer reviewer in his field of expertise for leading chemistry journals published by RSC, ACS, Elsevier, Springer Nature, Wiley, and Taylor & Francis. He is currently supervising 3 PhD and 5 MSc students and is a recipient of the NRF CSUR and SIR-MRC Research Grants (2023).
