Biography

Bhekumuzi Gumbi is a physical chemistry lecturer in the School of Chemistry and Physics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa. Bhekumuzi obtained his PhD degree in Chemistry (Environmental chemistry) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. His expertise lies in research areas of biosensors, analytical method development, nanomaterials, electrochemistry, polyelectrolytes, biomass, feacal sludge, circular economy, chromatography and environmental chemistry. Bhekumuzi supervises doctoral, masters and honours students in his areas of interest and expertise. Some of the characterization and analytical techniques he uses at university are GC-MS, LC-MS, HPLC, TEM, SEM, XRD, BET, Raman, UV-vis, NMR, single-crystal-XRD, ICP-OES.
