Dr Tembe holds a PhD in Genetics, with a focus on the application of Forensic Entomology in legal investigations. Her research interests include: Forensic Genetics, Forensic Entomology, Forensic Entomotoxicology and Forensic Microbiology. Her other research interest is in Medical and Veterinary Entomology, which involves barcoding arthropods involved in the transmission of zoonotic diseases. Her current plans include establishing a database of arthropods of forensic value based on the geographical occurrence/endemicity of these arthropods in the KwaZulu-Natal province for medico/legal application.
