Biography

After completing her PhD in Hydrology in 2020, Maqsooda was employed by the ICFR. She then returned to UKZN in 2022 as an nGAP lecturer in Hydrology. A year later, she was promoted to full Lecturer (2023) in the School of Agriculture, Earth and Environmental Sciences. Maqsooda is passionate about teaching and sharing the knowledge she has gained through her research. As a young and emerging academic, she is also excited by the opportunity to explore innovative and newly available technologies that can benefit the hydrology sector.

  • Mapping and assessing the impacts of crop-weed competition in neglected and underutilized crops. WRC Project: C2023/2024-01248
  • Leveraging the Google Earth Engine to analyse very-high spatial resolution unmanned aerial vehicle data to guide and inform precision agriculture in smallholder farms. WRC Project: C2021/2022-00800
  • Realisation of a System for Producing Annual Water Resource Accounts on a National Scale in South Africa. WRC Project: 2022/2023-00887
