Dr. Nontokozo Pertunia Mkhonza is a soil scientist with a strong research focus on soil carbon dynamics and stabilization mechanisms. Her work explores how organic carbon is stored, transformed, and protected within different soil systems, with particular emphasis on organo-mineral interactions and long-term carbon sequestration. She also investigates the impacts of agricultural land-use practices on soil carbon stocks and carbon cycling processes. Through integrated field and laboratory studies, she evaluates management strategies that enhance soil carbon retention and soil health. Her research contributes to sustainable agriculture and climate-smart land management.
