Dr Khoza is a researcher and lecturer of physical chemistry within the chemistry discipline. Her work lies at the intersection of fundamental science and real-world application, with a focus on the design and synthesis of advanced nanomaterials and nanocomposites.

A key aspect of her research involves developing materials with strong absorption in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum, aimed at enhancing the photocatalytic performance for environmental remediation, particularly in water purification. 

In parallel, Dr Khoza pursues research in molecular design for photodynamic therapy (PDT), an approach in cancer treatment that employs light-activated compounds to selectively target and destroy malignant cells. Her work in this area involves designing photoactive molecules with high selectivity and therapeutic efficiency.

Her interdisciplinary approach integrates core principles of physical chemistry, materials science, and biomedical engineering. Through this, Dr Khoza contributes to the advancement of innovative materials and techniques that address both environmental sustainability and biomedical challenges.
