Biography

Ms. Raesetse Baloyi is appointed as a Lecturer under the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP) in the Discipline of Agricultural Economics, starting from January 2022. She holds both a Bachelor of Science (2015) and a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics (2019) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She further has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) (2018) from the University of South Africa. She is currently studying towards her Doctoral degree in the same Discipline. Before joining the University, Ms Baloyi held various positions in the agricultural industry, predominantly in the fruit industry. She has worked for various companies including Fruit South Africa, Perishable Products Export Control Board (PPECB), E-Cert, and Save the Children. Her research interests include Youth and Women Empowerment, Rural Development, Agricultural Value Chains, and Policy Analysis. She currently lectures undergraduate modules and supervises postgraduate students.
