Biography

Prof Gubba holds a PhD in Plant Pathology specializing in plant virology. He has extensive experience in agricultural extension and research. Currently he leads the plant virology research group at UKZN. His main research focus is to identify and characterize viruses and viroids infecting food, vegetable and fruit crops.  Information generated from this research forms the basis to develop strategies to control/manage the diseases caused by the identified viruses. He will be on sabbatical leave during the 2021 academic year on a Fulbright Fellowship doing research in the USA.
