Biography

Prof Irvin Noel Booysen graduated in 2010 with a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Nelson Mandela University. Subsequently, he was hosted as a postdoctoral fellow at the Nanotechnology Innovation Centre of Rhodes University. He is currently an NRF C2-rated Associate Professor in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Prof Booysen has established a dynamic Inorganic chemistry research group where his research focus areas are based on Bio-inorganic chemistry and Metallophthalocyanine-based electrochemical sensors. In addition, he has been awarded several competitive research grants, including the prestigious Jamaica-RSA Bilateral research grant and Nuclear Technologies in Medicine and the Biosciences Initiative (NTeMBI) research grants. Furthermore, he fostered productive collaborations with scientists at national research centers and academics at local and international universities.
